Air hydraulics for the marine industry

ANODIZED SECURITY SYSTEMS

Stainless electro-hydraulics are the expression of the most advanced and modern automation technology for the marine sector in applications such as propulsion steering, steering gears, stabilizers, ship’s ladders, hatches and actuator controls for process valves. Specifically designed to meet the automation needs of a shipboard installation and the challenging requirements of off-shore applications, Atos stainless steel systems are now supplied in thousands of applications, with ‘marine certifications’ from specialist inspection agencies such as ABS, BV, DNV, RINA, GL, CCS, on request.

POWER PACKS

Power packs are manufactured by Atos’ systems division, with structures, tanks and piping in stainless steel to withstand over 200 hours of salt spray testing in accordance with ASTM B117.

All components and accessories are compatible with biodegradable water-based fluids, respecting environmental regulations regarding pollution and fire hazards. Special care is taken for the ergonomic positioning of all accessories to facilitate their maintenance in the ships’ cabins. In addition, energy is generated by means of impeller or piston pumps and flow limit control to reduce energy consumption and avoid overloads.

Special solutions to reduce the noise level, such as silent clutches, shock absorbers, rubber hoses and silent cabins, are available to reduce the noise level.

STAINLESS STEEL CYLINDERS

Stainless steel cylinders are suitable for modern marine applications, thanks to their high resistance to aggressive environments (over 1000 hours in salt cloud), especially for ship cylinder stabilizers and end blades on hydrofoil vessels.

STANDARD CYLINDERS

Standard cylinders with nickel-chromium shaft treatment (over 350 hours in salt cloud) actuate platforms and doors on commercial ships and cruise ships, as well as on boat blades and shuttles. For applications in hazardous environments, they are also available with ATEX 94/9/CE certification according to EN 13463.

ANODIZED ANTI-EXPLOSION VALVES

Atos stainless steel anti-explosion valves with a durable stainless-steel design to withstand corrosive environments (over 800 hours in salt spray) and ISO mounting surface for a compact and efficient hydraulic system design. They are anti-explosion certified to ATEX 94/9/CE Group II, in accordance with the globally recognized IECEx Group II safety certification and C UL US Class I, Division I. Size 06 valves also comply with Integrated Safety Integrity Level SIL3, in accordance with IEC 61508.

ON-OFF INTERNAL SAFETY ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVES

On-off internal safety electrovalves are designed to ensure full functionality with low power supply to avoid the possibility of explosion, certified according to ATEX 94/9/CE Group II and I for surface tunnels or mines. Many marine applications worldwide, such as LNG carriers and FPSOs prove the high reliability and durability. To limit the maximum current supply, the valve coils should be actuated via specially certified ‘safety blocks’.

Atos’ entire range of marine electrohydraulics is also available in low temperature operation to withstand the extreme low temperatures of the Arctic regions down to -40oC (standard certification down to -20oC)

DANA Brevini is also a major player in marine technology, manufacturing planetary reducers for many applications.
